Scottish Crossbill

The Scottish crossbill (Latin name Loxia scotica) is in fact the only vertebrate species that can be found only in Great Britain. Confirmed as a distinct species in 2006, on the basis of having a distinctive song, it is one of six species of crossbill.

The crossbills (genus Loxia) belong to the finch family (Fringillidae).
